| Situated between historic Niagara-on-the-Lake and the fruitlands of the Beamsville Bench, The Martin House is an historic, late-Georgian home on the waterfront of Lake Ontario and along the scenic Wine Route. Built in 1858 by the First Clerk Treasurer of Louth Township, Abram Martin, its construction is of locally fired brick from nearby Campden and boasts exterior walls that are 13 inches thick. Visit the home’s original kitchen – a restoration work-in-progress on the grounds of the property. The upstairs guest bedrooms bear the names of nut trees on the property – Walnut, Chestnut, Hazelnut, Butternut and the newly added Hickory Den/Loft. Enjoy the panoramic, unobstructed view of the lake and the Toronto skyline. Visit local fruit markets and award-winning wineries, just steps from our door. Tour the unique shops of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Jordan Village, and Port Dalhousie. Or, take in a show at the famous Shaw Festival Theatre, just minutes away. Warm hospitality and a full breakfast with lots of coffee awaits you in the heart of Niagara. | |
